The Word says, in the thirteenth capter of the Book of Hebrews "Don't forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it." This means we don't always know everyone's circumstance; therefore, we should greet everyone with the love of the Lord and his son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. This also means reaching out to the person who is very gruff, because he or she might need or be a blessing? And for the person(s) who walks in crying that might need a hug, compassionate gesture or a kind word: having the ability to greet one another [no matter the situation], is key to being an Emmanuel Greeter. Serving in this way will let them know that they are indeed welcomed and loved; and simultaneously feeling comfortable in the house of the Lord. First Corinthians 13:13 describes it best "Now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." |
Mission: Do your gifts include hospitality, friendliness, and the ability to lend a helping hand? On a weekly basis, the Greeter's Ministry sets the tone for the parishioners' weekly worship experience. As they walk into the church, we greet them with a smile, a firm handshake and for some, a hearty hug.
